My name is Father John Somers. I am the Headmaster of the Saint John of Damascus Orthodox Educational Initiative. The purpose of this blog is to make it easy for me to get various kinds of material out to parents, students, and other friends of the Initiative. One may wonder why I am posting this here. Why wouldn’t I use the blog on the Saint John OEI website? There are several reasons.

1. In the next several months, there will be a lot of work done on the main site. Various parts of the site might be taken down. This site will provide continuity during this period.
2. I wanted a more flexible, minimalistic workspace that would allow to share and develop new means of outreach, new course materials, and more.

The Saint John of Damascus Orthodox Educational Initiative exists to foster and offer spiritual and secular learning for Orthodox Christians. I cannot promise that everything posted here will be perfect. We are a small group dedicated to the Orthodox Church. We ask for your prayers and hope that the materials we offer here will be useful.
